Introducing: FRASER COAST MOTORPARK
In 2006, the Hervey Bay City Council (HBCC) partnered with the Maryborough City Council (MCC), State Government agencies and Businesses through Fraser Coast Motorpark Inc to assess the options for the development of a regional Driver Education and Motorsports facility.
The Fraser Coast Motorpark is intended as a world class motor sport precinct providing for motor sport activities, driver training, equipment manufacturing, service provision and other motor sport related activities.
MCC, HBCC and the Fraser Coast Motorpark Inc identified the need for a preliminary study to be completed in order to determine the viability for such a facility.
The recently completed preliminary Master Plan and Business Case has clearly determined that the project has strong potential to be a new economic driver for the Fraser Coast and initial assessment of the viability of the Motorpark was very positive. The Fraser Coast Motorpark business case was modeled on the operations of the extremely successful Perth Motorplex (formerly QUIT Motorplex) in Kwinana, Perth.
The Preliminary Masterplan devised by Enzo Biagioni-Froudist of the VDM Group emulates the efficient designs used in not only the Perth Motorplex but also Sydney Dragway (formerly Western Sydney International Dragway), Dubai Motorplex and others currently underway in other locations around the globe.
Utilising the expertise of VDM Group and Gary Miocevich of Perth Motorplex who is also involved in the work towards a Drag Racing facility for Melbourne, Fraser Coast Motorpark has tapped into some of the best minds in Motorsport Precinct design in the Southern Hemisphere. This strategic move will ensure the Motorpark exceeds all expectations and cements itself as THE premier Motorsport facility in Australia. Such is the potential of this location’s climate, the demographics and local motorsport history, this project is guaranteed to excite any enthusiast, racer or motor-related business owner alike.
The Fraser Coast Motorpark will bring an estimated 32,000 new visitors to the Fraser Coast region every year and generate hundreds of jobs from the construction phase through to fully operational. In addition to the job creation opportunities the facility itself presents, there is further scope to develop an entire support industry around the Motorpark and this is where the options are absolutely endless with many businesses and individuals already expressing a wish to become involved from Driver Training Schools, Race Car Builders, Engine Builders, Performance Tuners, Hire Facilities and many more.
